Caius, as always, was not in a good mood. It was as if, as always, he found something, as always, to cause his irk. All in all, it was supposed to be a typical Caius-hates-the-world-day.

He was alone in the throne room, for once. He did not relish to hear Aro's annoying grating voice that, as always, told him to keep calm. Must Caius remind him that he too was a 3 millennial vampire and he should not be treated like he was a newborn with the basest of instincts?

Tch.

It was, as always, typical of Aro to undermine the knowledge and expertise of those around him at the thought of the fact that he could see their every thought. Arrogance was one of Aro's more defining traits.

Caius was staring off at the distance now, his garnet eyes attempting to bore holes through the ancient Volterra castle doors.

He was waiting. And waiting was not something he was good at. It was a fortunate thing however that those personal guards of his (Aro had his set, why can't he?) know of his impatience and would not dally if they value their immortal lives.

Why was he waiting was the question. And it was a very good question. One Caius was sure Aro, as always, would know the answer.

Caius began drumming his fingers against the the arms of his chair, a very human gesture that he perfected over the years since it relieved him of the anger he had of the world. And usually, when his fingers were drumming, that would either mean the person he was speaking too had no chance or survival, or Caius was plotting some other poor man's non-survival.

And the reason of Caius' latest scheming was that he was interesting in the hybrids that lurk about Forks, as the Volturi himself had personally seen. Why were they so many and have escaped their clutches for so long? Caius blamed Aro. He knew that they should not have let that Renesmee Cullen go. Now Forks has become a breeding ground for those abominations that the Volturi had no idea what abilities they were capable of.

A plan needed to be made. Hybrids were a threat. And those shapeshifters...Caius let out a hiss. THose he had seen in Forks were not just the common wolf variety (one that Caius wanted to bore a stake through) but of different animal forms. He was sure he had spotted a panther and a kingfisher once. The point was, this kind of liberty among the supernatural world should not be allowed to get out of hand. It was this very kind of lax in punishment why Caius was also so temperamental against Aro. Aro with his flair for the dramatics, but Caius knew how impossibly ruthless he was. Marcus was a perfect example of this. Still, Caius was quite smug about the fact that Didyme wasn't the docile Volturi wife she often portrayed herself to be. Unlike his own wife who was probably sunning herself in her tower watching her own sparkling skin.

Tch.

Where were those damn guards?!

Ben was in the library studying some of the ancient texts, confident in the fact that he would not be summoned by his master for another few hours, just as he sat down in his usual throne-like chair, a messenger (a newborn, eugh) hurtled through the doors of the library and straight towards Ben.

Stopping just short of running into Master Mercy the newborn spoke "Message for you Master Mercy."

Ben stood up, still reading from the ancient tome and grumbled "Do not run in the library child. some are trying to read and had Master Marcus been here... you would not. understood?" he narrowed his eyes at the newborn. "Out with it boy, lets hear this message."

The newborn began to speak "Master Caius wishes to speak to you on a matter of urgency..."

Before he could finish his sentance, Ben had hurtled past him, past row after row of ancient tomes, flying through the corridors of the Castle, easily outrunnng the newborn messengers, past suits of armour and paintings, bursting through the throneroom doors he passed the portrait Master Caius had painted of Ben.

As Ben got to Caius' Throne he was the first to arrive, he dropped to his right knee, placing his right hand on the floor he said softly, "You summoned me Master?"

Heidi did not like being summoned, Aro knew that best of all. She was loyal only to him, so having Caius of all beings demand her presence had her in a foul mood. Heidi was never one to be grouchy or bitter, she was normally quite sweet and pleasant, but today was very different. She was almost as old as the three brothers, approaching her four thousandth year. She did not deserve to be treated like one of the newcomers.

Making her way to the throne room where the three brothers usually resided, Heidi ran a hand through her long hair in an attempt to brush it away from her face. The tall brunette was known for her beauty, that was her strength and used it daily to lure tourists to the castle for the three brothers to feast on. She figured Caius was simply grouchy because she had yet to do so today. Her time otherwise occupied and rightfully so.

Raising an eyebrow as Ben arrived just before her, Heidi wondered why he tried so hard to please Caius. Caius was bitter constantly and easily not worth Heidi's time or commitment, but she still valued her life so remained loyal when he requested it.

Her violet eyes were focused on the red ones belonging to Caius. If Ben was here, that meant she wasn't being sent out for food. Heidi wasn't used in combat, it wasn't her place. Despite the Volturi being completely power hungry and control hungry, they still believed men were the ones to do the fighting. The females of the group were lucky that the men had the most extraordinary abilities. It saved them from having to get their hands dirty.

Though standing here with Ben had Heidi wondering if she was being sent out for something else. Or perhaps if Aro had figured out that she, Felix and Ben had taken part in attempting to reunite both Marcus and Didyme. Still, that didn't add up. Caius wouldn't really care enough about that, it mainly concerned Aro.

Then again, Caius liked causing pain. Punishment was right up his alley.

"How can I be of assistance?"

Demetri's steps echoed through palace as he walked serenely down the hallway, hands in his coat-pockets, eyes almost half-lidded in boredom.

He had been enjoying the silence in his room, watching the humans scurry about their business when he was disturbed with an order from Caius. He was being summoned.

Somehow Demetri had grown a deep dislike for the word. Last thing he heard, he was a person. Not an object brought out by magic.

Summoned.

He felt like a goddamn bunny from a top hat.

Demetri stopped by the doors to the main hall where the three brothers' thrones were located, and his hand, by habit, jumped to his hair. He began to fix it absentmindedly when he realized it wasn't exactly something he needed to do--being a vampire had its quirks. And one of them was being immortally stunning whatever you were in.

He opened the heavy oak doors and closed them quietly behind him, his deep amber eyes sweeping throughout the room. Caius was there, of course, as well as Ben and Heidi. His left eyebrow twitched ever so slightly. It looked like Caius was calling forth every member of the Volturi for an assembly. Striding purposefully on over in front of Caius, he gave a low bow before retreating a few steps back.

"You called, Master?" he asked politely, the right amount of curiosity lacing his words.

Santiago was, once again, in his private garage fine-tuning his many sports cars. Hands thick with axel grease, Santiago was improving his Ferrari 458 Italia, making it faster and stronger.

Santiago was contemplating the blueprints for his new car when he was rudely abrupted out of his thoughts.

"Yes?" Santiago said to the messenger boy, without taking his eyes off of his work. Unlike some of the guards, Santiao didn't rule over the young vampires, he was just cold and detached.

"Master Caius has summoned you." the messenger replied and left when he had completed his mission.

Santiago got up slowly and wiped his hands on a clean towel. As he had been fixing cars for decades, needless to say, Santiago was quite confident in his abilities and knew that his clothes were clean. He slipped on his blazer and walked calmly towards the throne room where Caius was waiting for him.

Although Aro was the one who found Santiago and offered him a position among the Volturi guards due to his unique and dangerous power, Caius was the one that Santiago took orders from. Serving was the last thing that Santiago did. He listened to his master, but he would not be forced to do something he didn't agree with. No one messed with him, he was dangerous with his explosion powers; Jane in particular loathed him because she couldn't walk over him as she did with everyone else.

Santiago came to a stop in front of his master and bowed, lowering his head a bit. "You requested my presence, Master". He stepped back and melted back into the shadows, he wasn't one to stand in the spotlight. He noticed that most of the guards were summoned, and he could still hear footsteps approaching; he wondered what Caius was plotting this time, it was a rare occasion for all the guards to be summoned.

It was dark. The room which Chelsea called her own showed no life within it, but she was there although she couldn't really be called a living being. Her room was given to her, there was no need for one, the vampire did not sleep nor did she have a hobby and that was why her room was empty. Her daily doings were all orders, that is it.

Due to her not being told what to do, she was sitting in a corner in her dark room. Her legs were hugged by her arms and her head resting on top of them. Her mind was mostly blank.

Chelsea heard someone approaching her room and knock on the door. She did not need to talk to whomever it was, she already knew what she had to do. She was being summoned by one or more of her masters.

She got up slowly for a vampire, she was never a creature of speed. She started to make her way towards the throne room, no hurry in her step. As she entered the big room she did not look at who had summoned her, she did not care as she served all the Volturi. Getting closer to the thrones, she stopped and went down to one knee but she said nothing. It was unnecessary for her to let them know she was there to serve, everyone knew she did anything they asked of her.

Danielle entered Volterra through the visitor's entrance, waving idly at Gianna who smiled (as always) as she passed. Her footsteps were deliberate, purposeful, and they knew were they were going as she hitched the leather handbag up her shoulder and pushed back her eyeglasses as she entered Volterra castle. She had been outside on this rather dark and dreary day on an errand for Mistress Athenodora when she received a text message from Gianna consisting of an urgent summons from Master Caius.

Needless to say, Danielle came as quickly as she could. The double doors opened towards the throne room and she had to smirk at the entrance she made knowing that Master Caius would be curious as to what she was doing outside.

She would of course tell him later.

Smiling that smile now, Danielle strode across the throne room and gave a deep nod as her greeting to her master before turning to smile at those other guards around her, waving slightly at Heidi as she entered the room. Typical, it was a summons and those who have important abilities have been called forth. Interesting.

Smiling at the kneeling guards, Danielle bent a bit to speak to Ben, though she was sure the others would hear. She winked at Chelsea, knowing that wouldn't even bother the empath at any rate.

"Ben, darling have you taken root?" Danielle cooed before patting him gently on the head as she passed and proceeded to take her place between Demetri and Santiago.

How typical of Ben to come short but of grovelling at Master Caius' feet. It was this strange quirk of his, this strange utter loyalty to the Volturi royal that Danielle had always been curious of it. But she was a curious creature by nature, and she would find out the answer to the mystery. But now, it was time for business. Sneaking a glance each at Dem and Santi, Danielle turned to her master now.

"You have called Master?" Danielle asked and there was no hint of humor in those tones.

"It's about time." Caius muttered under his breath as several of the guard entered, all it seemed hurried to get there. He felt a muscle twitch in his jaw as the first to arrive was Ben, one of Caius' more trusted personal guards. Unlike the others, Caius knew Ben respected him to the point that he would follow without or very little question.

As the others arrived, Caius raised his eyebrows at the recent arrival and smirked.

"Shopping again Danielle?" He asked but he did not expect an answer. He knew how his wife often employed Danielle with her menial orders and Caius had grown to just let those orders pass rather than spent time trying to countermand them.

"Nothing of urgency, but one of great importance." He uttered now, crossing his legs and and propping his chin on his hand, carefully letting his fingers flit about his chisseled jaw. "Aro assures me that it is not something to be concerned of, but I desired to ask you, my dear Guard."

Caius gestured towards them now. "You are aware of the growing population of supernatural beings in Forks are you not?" He spoke in question, but it would have been clear to the guard that he would not take no for an answer.

"Then you would also know that I have no desire to let this boom of supernatural creatures bring a threat to our world." Caius frowned now, his hand fisting as he thought of those despicable hybrids running around, anomalies that didn't deserve to be alive.

"What say you?" He asked now, and Caius' expression told them exactly how fortunate they were that he had deemed to ask of their opinion.

Click. Clack. Click. Clack. Click. Clack. Small heels tread across the stone floor, echoing their announcements behind them.

The silver-inlayed black robe swayed behind Jane as she navigated the hallways with a steady speed. She cut corners and strode magnificently past a variety of vampires, all of whom sprang to attention and jumped out of her way as the dangerous little pixie-child sped past them.

Anyone who had met Jane knew she was to be avoided.

A slight smirk arose and adorned her features.

Reaching before her, she used both hands to thrust open the doors to the main hall and glided straight to the center of the foray. So many of the guard was here, but the room lacked the two people Jane was certain to respect--Aro, and her dearest brother. An instant scowl and scoff marred her cherubic features in response. She disliked Caius in general, though she tried to show him some respect... most of the time.

"Master Caius," she greeted vaguely, tossing one small hand in the air. "What matters are we discussing?" What are they taking time out of their busy schedules to argue uselessly about for the next few hours?

Alec’s steps were quick but even as he marched down the hall, passing various others with a congenial smile and a joke here and there. It never hurt to get on the good side of those around you after all. In the event of an uprising, being the one that everyone was fond of had its advantages…specifically not being targeted. He reached the throne room in short order, an apologetic smile plastered on his face as he quietly opened the doors.

Stepping inside, he saw Jane’s recognizable form surrounded by the other guards. He could feel the irritation radiating from her; practically hear the sneer in her voice as he moved further into the room. She never was good at feigning respect after all, her dislike for Caius obvious to all who looked no matter how she tried to hide it. While Alec didn’t like the man, he was able to conceal such thoughts. His disdain for the vampire’s quick temper and rash moves inwardly surfaced each time he was within his master’s presence. The man’s inability to separate himself from his feelings sickened the child-like being, grating upon his nerves at each turn. Surely, Alec could have ruled better; he could have sat upon the throne as Caius did, and yet he never let such ideas cross his lips or face. It truly was an art, the perfect mix of esteem and independence being a hard combination to create, and yet Alec had done so for centuries.

With light steps he moved to stand beside his sister, a deep bow creasing him as his eyes rose to Caius, “Forgive me, master, for my tardiness.” He announced, his smile turning to one of humor, “I was in the midst of a snack when your messenger arrived. I attempted to hurry, but I’ve found one can never truly rush the finer things in life…I’m sure you would agree?” With a laugh, he let his eyes travel to his sister, a brotherly hand going to her shoulder. It would have seemed merely a greeting to observers, but it was far more. It was his way of reminding her to keep calm, reminding her that despite his glaring faults, Caius was in fact their leader… for now.

I hope I did not miss much?” Alec queried, his hand dropping from Jane’s shoulder with grace as he crossed his arms lightly against his chest.

If Shays pace seemed rather lazy as he meandered down the halls toward the throne room it was only because he couldn't imagine that Caius would ever wish him to be present, surely the message must have been miscarried, and once he showed up the error would be noticed and he would have to go fetch whoever was really supposed to come.

The young man had been in the courtyard with some of the ladies who served as attendants to the wives, since those most esteemed persons all had other things to do on this day. He wasn't sad for the respite since Sulpicia had been in an especially catty mood lately due to Aro's ever so brief absence. So today he had been able to take a bit of ease amongst the ancient Gallica roses that grew and bloomed sporadically year round in the warm sheltered walls of the ancient town; and cast pink rainbows across the walls while listening and making vaguely agreeable noises at the right moment as the ladies nattered on about which guards they considered the flavor of the week. Well, maybe he'd been slightly more than encouraging to the ones that found master Mercy attractive, he smiled gleefully, but all was fair in love.

He twirled a half bloomed rose in one hand as he entered the throne room finally his face settling into a politely perplexed expression all too reminiscent of his Master. Except he was paler, even than Caius, and the deep shadows of the tower couldn't keep him from sparkling as much as the others might in a room that was brightly lit, why should he have to make him self up to appear normal when at home. Of course this meant that there was no such thing a slipping in inconspicuously if he was tardy like today.

He casually handed Jane the rose he had been holding as he passed on his way to stand near Heidi. Absent minded courtliness as though it was merely to be expected that he should surrender the half opened bloom to the first lady he happened to notice. Which it was in a way, Shayan's affectionate nature wasn't exactly a secret, and since he was in a really good mood today it was all he could do to keep it to appropriately small gesture like handing off the rose, and contenting himself to just standing amiably close to Heidi as opposed to leaning on her as was his want. He only caught the tail end of Caius' statements causing his head to tilt slightly in concern for what he missed, though unlike the twins he held his peace rather than making excuses or interrupting with questions. If he had learned one thing about the guard it was that no matter what was said it was bound to be picked up and repeated if one waited patiently... might take a few decades for that to happen but eventually someone would get back to it.
Besides Shay was still waiting for someone to tell him didn't belong here.

It took him only hours to travel halfway through the world by plane. Technology really is a great convenience. Although if he wasn’t in a hurry, he would have preferred travelling by sea. Five years in the navy makes one think the world is small in the uniformity of blue.

In front of an old castle, his car parked and as the door to the driver’s seat opened, out came Najiro’s big stature. The black shades reflected the glaring sun from his eyes. He stood tall in the white suit that he wore hiding beneath one of the most impressive bodies the world may ever see in the next few centuries.

He glanced around and his nose told him he was not in any way lost. Aside from the coven of vampires that he once encountered in Japan, never did he imagined supernatural creatures of their kind would actually be in number at such a small place. Well Caius said something about the vampire gods having a base with their guards around but he did not foresee it would be this big.

Tilting his head up, he looked up at the aged building as if merely glancing at it would actually measure the height of the place. Najiro, no, Neji took a medium sized bag from the back of his car before shooting the keys into the pocket of his pants.

So this is it?

After making sure it was the same address Caius gave him, he walked to the doorway with precise steps. He was about to come really close when he stopped sensing someone was behind him. A woman’s voice then came out asking him what business he had in the foreign place.

Slowly, he turned his head to face the woman that had the same color of eyes as he did. “I am here as a guest of Caius. A meeting is waiting for me, I believe.” His tone was calm; holding that of a man who knows no fear.

The rareness of that particular day would exceed every expectation she had.

Corin was outside, once again sitting on a tree branch like some mysterious entity in a white lacy dress. That’s what she would often do—stay out of the castle when she is not needed. Well she didn’t really have the desire to be needed by anyone. But whenever Aro—the only creature she’s loyal to—calls, her feet would never walk like she was touring over the moon. That and the fact that no one had really have the chance to see let alone interact with her.

So to be called so suddenly by Caius like that was quite a surprise.

Right after sending the messenger off, she went on her way to the said meeting. On her way, she was stopped by the sight of a strange car parking right in front of the Volturi’s grand house. Scanning the man that came out of the intruding car, she walked purposefully following the steps of the male.

“To whom do we owe the visit from someone I haven’t seen before?”, she spoke with a calm voice rid of threat although if he gave off a wrong answer, he’d never mistake her kind.

And then she was once again surprised. Aside from herself, she didn’t know anyone had the nerve to call the gods without the honorific everyone used. Corin though, wouldn’t be punished since she never really had the chance to address any of them.

“How rare…”, she said as her eyes bore red circles on the man’s face. “For ‘that Caius’ to accommodate a guest while he is in the middle of an important meeting.” She was more than confused. Much as she knew of Caius’ whimsical interest to various creatures, she didn’t know the vain-looking master would actually invite someone directly to the castle without a notice to the other guards such as herself.

“Very well…” Corin walked affront the man. “I was heading to the same direction and I feel like I am responsible to guide a master’s visitor to our home. But not after giving me the stranger’s name will I escort you to where you want to be.” Either the man was telling the truth or he was entering a hungry lion’s lair.

Pushing the door to the conference room where she sensed the others arrived first, she made her presence noticed and actually paid respect to the person that summoned her. Corin knew she was late but since she took care of Caius’ guest, she thought she needed not to explain anymore.

“I will have to apologize for interrupting but someone is endeavoring to see the god that summoned…” Her deep-red orbs travelled to the man sitting on the throne. “a man named Neji.”

Ben stood up, still not looking at Caius directly in the eyes he said "Of course master i shall carry out your wishes as i have always done. My opinion matters not, my loyalty stretches beyond the bounds of my own opinions." saluted Caius by crossing his arms across his chest.

As the newcomers entered the room and interupted his master, Mercy became angered rather quickly, first adressing Alec and Jane "Perhaps..." He began to pace back and forth infront of them "If your timekeeping where better you would not be late, or perhaps your shortfall is dawdling aimlessly when you have been summoned by your betters." he shot a loathsome glare at the twins before continuing.

Master Mercy then nodded at Shay, crossing one arm over his chest in a salute, he bowed his head slightly, an odd show of respect from Ben.

Looking at Danielle he said "I would not concern yourself with where i have 'taken root' unless you are offering a better position in which i should not remain stationary?" Ben had a habit of using sex as a way of keeping the girls in line, usually if they thought of him in thier beds they would begin blushing and sweating profusely at the mear idea. Danielle however, was one Ben was certain would be a tough nut to crack, perhaps the deed would have to be done rather than thought of.

Santiago stood silently, his face half consumed by the shadows that was cast over his face by the large pillars by the wall. He listened as Caius went in one of his...moods again, it didn't surprise him in the slightess - Caius was always like this, there was nothing new about his fixation with wiping out races; Santiago was more concerned with the fact that most, if not all, of the Guards were summoned here, himself included. Santiago was not a narcissist, but he knew that he was summoned only when there was either great importance or great urgency in the mission itself; his masters chose to keep him as their final weapon, when they had no choice but to destroy everything. Needless to say, Santiago sensed bloodshed in the future.

Santiago rolled his eyes inwardly when Ben Mercy started grovelling at Caius's feet again; it was common knowledge that the two did not get along. Although both were loyal only to the Volturi, Ben was always kissing up to his masters in one way or another while Santiago rarely bowed down to anyone, let alone his masters; there was also the fact that Ben had the habit of using sex to control the women while Santiago respected them and considered them his equal, he wasn't interested in becoming the man whore of Volterra.

Santiago caught Dani's glance directed at him, he shook his head slightly, indicating that she hadn't missed anything of importance. Santiago's brows furrowed as he heard Ben's words - he didn't care what Ben did with his other bitches, but Ben would not be touching Dani, not if Santiago could help it, she had already been through enough, despite her hard exterior.

"I'll be there." was all Santiago said, in response to Caius.
