Recently declassified reports from the CIA and FBI reveal that Captain America and cohorts have been profoundly active behind the scenes, despite publicly being mostly radio silent. A new twist in recent endeavors indicates a heavy reliance on both the Captain and a new individual who is a “profoundly efficient and dangerous agent”, as so named by Courtney Bishop, a CIA media relations liaison. The operative, Bishop further states, “we know as Black Widow. In the 60s and 70s, that was a KGB operative, but these days we can say with absolute certainty that this ‘Black Widow’ works for us”.
Both Captain America and the Black Widow helped bring down a crime syndicate that spanned multiple American and Canadian cities, and had ties to the Yamaguchi-gumi, a notorious yakuza power in Japan. The syndicate, which thus far authorities are refusing to name—citing a need to avoid alerting additional individuals of interest they have yet to track down—was responsible for significant arms trafficking that funneled illegal automatic weapons into the United States through Canadian ports.
During the multi-month operation, the Black Widow and Captain America managed to dismantle multiple key waypoints into the States, which were then replaced by local intelligence for evidence-gathering to fully incriminate all involved. Reported cities included Halifax, Nova Scotia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Detroit, Michigan; from there, the weapons were moved by train and track to major cities across the continental U.S.
Both individuals have been given official commendations from United States Intelligence authorities, as well as Canadian Intelligence, for their part in the thus dubbed “Operation Wrought Iron”. It’s believed through their direct efforts that thousands of lives have likely been saved, including about a hundred Somali and Syrian refugees that they were able to confer to safety when they interrupted the syndicate’s human smuggling efforts.
